How many earthquakes per week is average, Simon? Would 850 be very excessive?

I had a look the week of the 7.1 and there were 1000 that week.

"It is estimated that there are 500,000 detectable earthquakes in the world each year. 100,000 of those can be felt, and 100 of them cause damage." USGS

From a message board out of Honduras, around La Ceiba, Puerto Cortes and Roatan, yes, there was quite a shake at that time. I think it's on the USGS website regarding the scale of the quake.

More Tremors Felt Over The Weekend

A week and a half after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck offshore Honduras and rattled nerves in Belize, another quake, this one significantly less intense, shook the same offshore area late on Sunday night.

According to reports from the United States Geological Survey, last night's quake which measured 5.7 on the Richter scale was at a depth of about 6.2 miles under the Caribbean Sea.

The epicenter was located 20 miles north west of La Cieba Honduras, or 8 miles east north east of San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

There have been no reports of damage as a result of last night's quake.

The June fourth earthquake damaged over two dozen homes and other infrastructure, primarily in the south of the country, in Placencia, Monkey River and Independence villages.

Take a little time to understand the Richter scale (which is a strange thing indeed) - it might help everybody relax.
A 5.something is about 200 times weaker than a 7.something.
The 7.1 was a biggie but the the others (4's and 5's) we've had are nothing to fret over - most likely aftershocks from the 7.1.
