I will be visiting Ambergris Caye for the month of July, contemplating a move. I am trying to get a true idea of Belize living and looking for some life experiences to fill my days. My experience includes (but not limited to) customer service, financial services, computer technology, restaurant management, and hospital laboratory technician. I have been a certified diver since 1981. I am interested in trading my labor for things like free dive time,learning to cook Belizean recipes, merchandise, etc. Also interested in volunteering for environmental/nature & animal causes. If anyone knows of anything, I would be most appreciative.

We might be able to do some bartering. I will be living on Ambergris for my first year starting this July. I'm building a home 9 miles north of San Pedro Town and also looking to start a small business. I've been teaching the PADI curriculum since 1989 and have been diving since 1984. SCUBA has not been my profession but is my obsession. I can provide diving and I'm interested in some help with my website and other business needs. Can we talk?

SimonB - No, I did not realize that bartering in this manner would be an issue. I was just looking for ways to have some different experiences while in AC. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I noticed that you volunteer at SAGA...do they need any additional volunteers? I am interested in ecological/oceanic/nature or animal causes, and would like to help.

The issue you are running into with working is that your passport will be clearly stamped not to work with or without pay. In the areas you are talking about you may or may not be caught but immigration seems to have been cracking down lately.

Nekton.....How is house you are building coming along? We may be neighbors one day. I own several lots at Habaneros behind Brightwaters Resort. Habaneros is about 10 miles from San Pedro I'm told.
