Lamanai by air is nice, we've done it both ways. I prefer the boat ride myself, as i enjoy the sea ride, the rivers inland, etc., but it can be rough and long for some. Both ways are affordable and the scenery is great either way.
I would have to agree - seeing Lamanai by boat - the first time anyway, is a great experience. If I did it again (which I might in July) I might consider flying back to mainland instead.

Gela, You still see it by boat when you fly over, but just the second river which for me is the most interesting part of the trip. That Bus ride is very uncomfortable the other way and crossing the back bay is equally as bad. The river tour on the northern river, the walk through the ruins and rain forest is extended when you fly over, no one is rushed to be back by dark. After my experience flying into Tower Hill I never want to go the old way again.
I guess i'm not as old as ole' elbert :D, cause we really liked the whole boating in, through all the rivers and Bomba, etc., bus rides stopping at local 'mom & pop' type of places, seeing the local areas in the rural parts we'd not usually see, etc. Pressed for time, yeah, fly. Its great either way.
