The fisherman identified as Bernabe Badillo remains in critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was flung from his vessel this morning. Badillo was allegedly fishing near Ocean Air Resort earlier when a boat belonging to tour company Searious Adventures crashed into his 24 foot vessel. Investigations are ongoing and are still in their preliminary stages but authorities speculate that a combination of poor visibility from the heavy rains this morning and speeding may have been the cause of the accident. No charges have been filed on anyone as of press time.
The San Pedro Sun confirmed that at least one man was seriously injured in a boat accident. The incident happened about midday today at about a mile and a half North of San Pedro Town, and it involved a local fisherman and the captain of a tour operating company on the island. While we are unable to disclose the name of the injured person at this time, he is of Hispanic descent and a resident of a Barrier Reef Drive address in San Pedro Town.
The injured man was airlifted to a medical facility in Belize City for further treatment. The San Pedro Sun will be following this incident very closely and keep you updated as information comes forth from authorities.
That sucks, I see him on the water all the time, I hope he's okay. I saw the boat sitting by itself yesterday when I was headed up to La Perla and wondered what it was doing there with no one on board. There were some bad squalls yesterday.
