Just made a trip south and back. Counted 28 license plates. Ten were "Cristal" rentals, all of which had the SP plates. Of the 18 others, 2 had SP plates, and 14 still had on BZ plates. One SUV and one motorbike, were, of course, without any plates at all.

I'm guessing the word hasn't gotten around to anyone much yet.

I'm thinking of several descriptions of all this..but they're too rude to print!

Several years ago we were told we had to re-register our Golf Carts at the Old Football feild and get an Orange Sticker for your Golf Cart. It was new law and to be enforced with threats of a fine if not completed by such and such a date. Like a foolish Gringo I rushed round and did the right thing and parted with my $15. I was one of the few who did.

I know people who replaced their plates with exactly-made facsimiles made of aluminum so they would remain readable, and they were fined for their trouble.

The laws are not always practical or perfect - but the law states that you must affix the government approved and issued plates to your vehicle. If they get rusty you have to return them and purchase new plates.

The plates in use are manufactured by the inmates of the prison, they generate needed cash to continue to develope re-training programs for the inmates.
