My advise as a non - practising architect whose building a house in CC and who is a contractor in the States, talk with as many architects as you can, look at what buildings and houses they've designed and go to them with a good idea of what you want. Then find out which one can understand what you want. Many architects design with great consistancy. Do you want a modern house out of concrete or a more traditional wood and concrete structure? Walk around SP and look at houses. Just like in the States or Europe or any other place you need to be able to tell the architect what you want. If your located in the states you might even want an American architect give you a simple set of design drawings that a local architect can easily turn into the necessary drawings for SP. Standards and codes are different so you really do need a local architect to handle the Belizean side of the design and build process. Good luck in a few short months
You'll have the house in paradise.
