Sad news. Just heard the French Bakery has shut down for good and they are moving back to San Ignacio.

Big loss! What a fantastic bakery......truly a French bakery.

Agreed, it will be missed. But, according to seashell on another thread, we shouldn't be eating there anyway.

Sadly it was more supported in words than in purchases. But some of us will very greatly miss it.

do get something like that off the ground, its going to take a LONG LONG time to get on peoples 'radars'. We are all such creatures of habit....i wish they'd held on a little longer so that we could have made it that "habit".

They held on as long as funds would permit. If say 20 more people had bought their daily bread there it might have made a difference. San Ignacio provides more stable year-round business for them, and of course the cost of living and operating there is much lower. I know they found rent to be a real killer.

The lady behind the counter was a real sweetheart.....hope she finds another job soon.

Loansum. She is indeed absolutely lovely and she is going to San Ignacio to continue working with them.

Happy to hear that.......we will miss her & the bakery.
