I doubt that seriously. That works out to $1.50 U.S. a day. Add a zero to the end and that is more like it.

I'm planning on hanging by the beach and buying groceries once a week and nothing else really

You will starve at $1.50US per day. If you don't eat much, catch lots of fish and drink nothing but tap water you might get away with $5US a day.

mebbe she's going to trade, err... excuse me, exchange food for work, like she referenced in her hostel query 6 months ago. Hope she has a Plan B, or a big nest egg backup

I don't know what you were implying but I'm getting free accomadation because I have a friend that owns a hostel in Belize. But I guess I shouldn't take anything seriously from a caveman

I think he was proffering up something BIG, like a nest egg backup. Otherwise he might club you...cave men do that you know.

Sorry, you will never survive on that, the water you need to buy to drink a day will cost more than that..dont forget Belize is the most expensive country in Central America.....sadly...

Dont listen to them. That's plenty of money. That is if you are going to be picking through trash and asking other tourists "are you finished with that?"

Cavemen MIGHT be able to eat on $1.50 a day, but as for adult beverages........that wouldn't get breakkie started!

One must also ponder why, if a friend was providing gratis lodging, said friend was not asked the question about food budgeting as well crazy

KA - watch out for those of us who speak softly and carry a big club.

Breakofdawn26, if 147 US is all you will have with you don,t even consider coming down to belize for a week let alone 3 months, your declared budget is just enough to get you into a world of trouble.

Impressive budgeting and grasp of economics.... Here is hoping you have your additional bags etc covered already or you will deplete your funds by 34.125% THUS REDUCING YOUR WATER ALLOWANCE TO 6 DAYS...

I know several people who have tried to live on as little as possible while in San Pedro and CC, it was not as easy as it seems. Even 15 US a day meant total dedication to the cheapest food and water, and a way was needed to cook...

Seriously, you had better stay home and accumulate some (10x) more US dollars, you will be much safer and more confortable.

Oh, I am sure $147.00 will be plenty to live on for three months. As a matter of fact I think that is about the same amount that Sally Struthers says will feed a straving orphan in Africa for three months.

And when do you have to start paying the $50/month to extend your stay?
