oops, I've let another secret out. Yes I absolutely love Star Trek. All the old originals are still wonderful to me and I truly enjoyed Jean Luc Picard. Haven't watched many with Janeway and what was the (guy) captain's name on the most recent ones??? But each one I have watched has been engrossing.
I think the one you just saw is what they're calling a prequel but I'll take whatever they bring! I really thought that Chris Pine, the actor playing Kirk, was spot on with Shatner's portrayal without aping it or parodying it. (I love Capt Kirk, and yes, I'm a trekkie nerd)
I used to work in management in a corporate sort of environment. In that capacity I was sent to a series of "seminars" (IMHO time wasting expensive meetings with Tony Robbins types) on everything from team-building to sales. I particularly remember one that was about three personality types of customers - the entire model was Star Trek - Kirk, McCoy and Spock were considered archetypes. Since I did not have to pay for this seminar I actually sat back and had little fun with it. Did it mean anything to sales in our company? Nope - but it clearly sold seats at seminars.
