This guy is an Emerald Hummingbird the emeralds range from cuba to South amer. but i took this in Utilla.
I'm looking to buy a feeder for them , do you know if anyone sells hummingbird feeders on the island?

Yes, Elbert; I;ve purchased two at Castillo's Hardward.

My experiences are they work well, the hummingbirds catch on quick and then start to guard them by perching nearby.

mine were taken over by bee's so i took it down for a couple months.
just put it back this morning,, we'll see,,,

I HAD bees invade for about a week. Didn't seem to keep the birds away. Then one day they were gone.
There is a world wide problem with bees dying off. Last Wednesday night at the Lions Den there were several bees on the floor dying.
If we don't have bees we don't have pollination. bummer1

another little thing i learned,, to 'force' them to the hole i am aimed at, i stick a toothpick in all the others.
if not, they always seem to go to the one thats hidden the most.
