Dear Members,
In an attempt to force Dave Mitchell and Grand Belizean Estates to follow the correct procedure and not destroy any more of the islands ecosystems whilst building the E/W road to Grand Belizean Estates development, he has been served with an injunction to stop any further building of the road. The focus of the injunction is that the environmental impact had not been assessed, no plans agreed upon nor the correct permits obtained for constructing the road. As with any development the laws of our country must be upheld to ensure that development is carried out in the most sustainable way.
This is due to be heard in Court tomorrow.

Will you please let me know what you find out about this?

From what I've read here and been told while inquiring around the isle, someone will have a pocket full of $$ and Dave will build a road.

I hope the fragile eco-system will be protected and everyone will do the right thing.

The road is just a small portion of the issue. Can you imagine a subdivision with out septic? Being that low and marsh, drainage is going to be an engineering miracle.
I would call this injunction just the first.

And they should be embarrassed, was given a nod of approval by the town board and excused of all normal approval channels because of the money the developers throw arround.
shame on the town board. ...If they have any.

Are the members of the Town Board as corrupt as this makes them appear, or just naive? What can we EFFECTIVELY do to control this sort of thing? - the ballot box seems to be the only way, but that has so far proven dismally ineffectual.
