Hi I need to get to the embassy so I can get more pages in my passport. If I take the water taxi over to BC, what bus line do I catch to get to Belmopan? How long does it take to get there? I'm trying to do this in 1 day, will I be able to get another bus back to BC in time to catch a water taxi back to SP? Any info greatly appreciated!

Almost all the lines go through Belmopan, so just ask which one is next when you arrive. Trip takes about an hour with stops. Go early and you will have no problem. US citizens no longer wait in line, you are let right in and there is a line just for citizens. Took us about an hour to get new pages.

In the Belize City bus terminal, look for a westbound bus; the final destination of BENQUE will be displayed in the front window of the bus, but you could take one with a final destination of BELMOPAN.

The bus companies authorized to operate on the highway in the Western Zone are NTSL, BBOC, D and E, Guerra’s Bus Service and Shaw Bus Service. You could also take a James bus to Belmopan.

Westbound buses depart hourly (sometimes on the half hour) beginning at 5am; last departure at 9 pm.

A Regular bus from Belize City to Belmopan (50 miles) is about 1.5 hours & BZ$5.00.

Coming back, buses to BC depart about every hour.

You can walk from the water taxi terminal to the bus terminal in BC, or take a taxi for BZ$6.

Hey dabunk, when did you go to have new pages added? I had to make an appt to have it done. According to the embassy website, they only do this on Tues & Wed. And the only appts in the next week is for early -latest I could get was 930am. I am just wondering if I am going to be able to get there in time for that, coming from SP.

We did it about a year ago and also got new passports for our kid. I have heard rumors about having to have appointments but you are the first person who has directly said this is what you were told. But if you have an appointment even better as they do things quickly. If your appt is 9:30 you should have plenty of time to get back.

Getting to Belmopan at 9:30 from San Pedro could be tricky -
7 am boat - arrive 8:45 Belize City - find a bus which leaves...?? and then ride bus for an hour.

Taxi ride is $200 Bz RT from BC to Belmopan. If you had a taxi pick you up at the water ferry terminal you could probably make it on time, or close to it.

We have friends who just went - we're in Corozal. They do take appointments - check the embassy site for info. Limited hours and times. Our friends who also needed passport pages said with the appointments, it went quickly and well. I think they do appts. 2 or 3 days a week - check embassy website.
