I heard there are direct flights from Toronto to Belize commencing December. Anyone know of them?

Probably charters on SkyService again but there's nothing listed on their site right now.

It's Sunwing. All inclusive for the Placencia.
According to Sunwing, you fly to Roatan and then by chartered flight to the new airport on the Peninsula.

hardly a direct or more appropriately (which is really what the OP meant I believe) a non-stop flight is it?

Sunwing flights will land at BZE til the Placencia intl airport is operating.

It'll be quite a while before they can land a 737, which is what the Sunwing fleet constists of, at the new airport in Placencia.

and even longer before they could fill a 737

Where exactly is the new Intl Airport to be and is it concrete (roll out the jokes)or like the Placencia Road, oh one day!!!

Actually this airport seems to be really happening.
Amazing how things change ...... folks in Placencia used to put San Pedro down as "over developed" ......

we still do,, for the time being anyway,,,

the thing is off the peninsula about a couple miles west. it's sole purpose seems to be to bring rich people to the placencia hotel, copal resort, rendevous caye, the future 18 hole golf course, and the golf course mansions.
it really has nothing to do with the existing peninsula.
they don't have that many visitors arrive daily now, where are all these people going to come from?
maybe in some far distant future,,,,,,

Is that the "Savannah" strip enlarged, or another one altogether?

i don't know a savanah strip other than the one over at independence.
this is a brand new one.
i am told they were only approved for so many feet, short of what is required for the big planes. plus i hear they will need aaallll kinds of expensive gear to be approved as well. controllers, weather stuff, ect.
but the 2 developers seem to have bottomless pockets,,,

Direct flights from Toronto to Belize is with Exclusive Ways chartering Skyservice 757s every Wednesday commencing 16 Dec. The without taxes return fare is US$899 and there is a 2 for 1 sale until 31 Oct. Skyservice is only the carrier so they do not take direct reservations.

I just tried Flight Center, they handle Skyservice. http://www.flightcentre.ca/

But they can't find any Skyservice flights at all to Belize from Canada so they are calling to find out why it's listed that they fly there but no flights are available into next year April 2010.

Flight Center are not handling these flights; you need to check with Skyservice

As you can see, not too helpful with regard to flights to Belize.

I've already checked Skyservice flights every which way and no one is handling direct Skyservice flights to Belize because there don't appear to be any with them. Flight Centre did check Skyservice flights for us but there are none to Belize that they could find, it comes up as 'not available' no matter what dates they put in . Actually I believe you can get flights to Belize with Skyservice only if you take a full package with hotel, but not 'flight only' right now. Your local travel agent should be able to check this out for you, as they did for us.

Exclusive Ways announced today that their contract with Skyservice is effective today and that Exclusive Ways are now accepting flight only and also flight with hotel reservations. They fly weekly Toronto - Belize every Wednesday commencing 16 Dec 09 using Skyservice Boeing 757s. This is their web site www.exclusiveways.com
