Any good snorkel spots on CC without going on a boat?

Don't think so, TG, but the hunt for seahorses, on the backside, near LL can be a challenge, especially after the obligatory LL respite.

So true Markw..... it's a 15 minute bike ride but you have it all to yourself. There's a spot near the marina and you might see barracuda.....rays and big schools of bait fish.

Actually snorkeling at the split can be great if you are a medium level snorkeler...almost always a few nurse sharks under the cement ledge..Jew Fish..eagle rays..always barracuda and puffer fish..frog fish..lots of small tropicals ..you just have to check the tides coming in and out. You want to go at slack tide. Also if you go to the other side and swim around the mangroves its a nursery for small fish..hundreds of them....go down at night time and watch the tarpen that are attracted to the light.

Be aware while swimming in mangroves away from normal human occupied areas that these places can also have Crocs Which may not make a great swimming partner

Been going down to CC for about 8 years and never heard of anyone swimming around the south island being killed by a croc nor even bitten or threaten. I have seen about a 5 footer on the backside of the island but that croc is no longer there. Perhaps Cooper who lives in CC would know with more certainty.

there's lots of crocs: at the leeside of the island, at the southend in the mangroves,at the other side of the split.... as long as you swim at daytime, there's no problem. But after the sun goes down you better not go near the mangroves, because I've seen the result of a croc bite. It was a small one, but still....
And the split or several docks at the south end of CC are perfect spots for snorkeling for which you don't need a boat
