Jane and I have made 6 trips to AC in the past 3 years. We've tried several excursion providers and our fav is Suya Tours. They really give you a great Belizean perspective on the places you are visiting. Last month we did a combined Zip Line and Zoo tour from AC using their boat. It was wonderful. We've also done Maruba Jungle Spa and horesback riding, the Mayan ruins, cave tubing, and others that I forget. Staying south of town, we also use them for SCUBA trips and have found them to be the best by far. With all of that said, there are MANY good providers of these services as and long as you get good reputable referrals, you can't go worong. (Avoid the guys on the streets selling SCUBA, snorkeling, fishing, etc.) Have fun!!

Sorry BJ, but I don't totally agree with you about the guys on the street, especially during slow season. I have had great luck and great prices on fishing trips with guys I have met on the beach or on piers.

If you use a guy off the beach make sure you ask to see their tour guide license.

I agree with Simon, and never hurts to let your resort or someone know where you are going, and who with. Just common sense.

I'd say if you're going to stay on the cayes, do it right. Focus on the things you want to do there, or you might end up stretching yourself too thin. Save the mainland stuff for another time, or try to do as much as you can in a day trip.

As for vaccines, I'd recommend Twinrix and Tetanus, though it's recommended you start getting vaccinated 6 weeks in advance... If you're heading deep into the jungle, maybe consider Malaria, but the risk isn't as high as other Central American countries. Just make sure you've got some decent bug spray.

Well, our flights are booked, hotel is reserved and I just got a tetanus shot and a Hep A vaccination as well as some pills to take for typhoid. I definitely want to take the malaria pills too, bugs seems to really like biting me. Can you buy those drugs online?

I think that we'll probably do one day trip either to some ruins or a cave, hopefully both could be done in one day. Thanks for all of your help!

Which credit cards are best to use while in Belize? We were looking into international fees, and it looks like Discover is the lowest? Do they accept Discover most places? Between the two of us we have every type of credit card, but we would obviously like to use whichever has the lowest fees.

Yeah, we just saw that yesterday and he applied last night but they said that it would be 7-10 days, but we are leaving on Sunday. Hopefully they can get it here before then though.
