Does anybody reading this know the Latin name of the plant we call saw-grass ? Razor-teeth leaves, above-ground roots, can grow to 30 feet tall and makes a fabulous natural fence.
I tried looking up saw-grass on google but it seems that this name is applied casually to different plants round the world, and I am not getting far with it. Also tried looking up "screw-pine" to which it seems related, but did not get the same plant(s) either.
Thanks for your help.

Do you mean the kind of plant that Mayan Princess has growing out front?

Wow thanks everybody - you are really super!

Clover - Cladium Jamaicenese is so pretty - but it's not the one I'm after this time - we call that "cuttin grass".
Love Pampas grass, but can't seem to grow it in my yard - might try again.

Seashell - that's the stuff I meant.

Mr B - will try to search out the sources you sent later.

Again thanks all.

Diane,
I know what your talking about but can't find it either.
I planted a 200' row of it. It works great and reproduces quickly. Is it like the patch on the north border of Solaria?

Bingo Elbert - same stuff - my yard is full of it too.
And it's all along the road behind our house and Caye Villas.

Dear God, Don't buy any! I now have enough to fence in the whole island. You can have all the starts you want. Word of caution on these, they are a bitch to dig out. We let some in back get out of control and decided to put in a ficus hedge. A back breaking job.

Thanks everybody - no I don't need any - I have plenty too.
I am trying to get the botanical name so that a French gardener can plant them in Venezuela (as a mean green security fence)...... ergo wanting the proper name to try to avoid the language issues.
Not a big deal - thanks for all the interest tho!
