We would love to see you at the dedication of the San Pedro Town Library’s new Paul Hooker Media Center on October 24th at 6:00 p.m. The Paul Hooker Media Center has been made possible by the kind patronage of Mrs. Pam Hooker in loving memory of her husband. Mrs. Hooker donated the funds to purchase six new computers, a movie projector, and a movie screen. The movie, The Planet Earth will be shown at the Esmeralda Park adjacent to the San Pedro Library starting at 6:30 p.m., following the dedication. Please join us for this exciting evening.

Dedication Ceremony of The Paul Hooker Media Center

On Saturday, October 24, the San Pedro Town Library held a dedication ceremony for the Paul Hooker Media Center. Present at the ceremony were family members of the late Paul Hooker including his wife Mrs. Pam Hooker, his mother Mrs. Eva Hooker and Brothers Richard and David, Mrs. Erica Cadle of the national Library Service, Belize City and Head Librarian of San Pedro, Iracela Acosta, to name a few.

The Paul Hooker Media Center has been made possible through the kind patronage of Mrs. Pam Hooker in loving memory of her husband Mr. Paul Hooker. Mrs. Hooker donated the funds to purchase of a movie projector, two movie screens and six computers.

In a short speech Richard mentioned that Paul discovered the person he wanted to be here in Ambergris Caye. “He never stopped picking apples and giving them away,” commented Richard. The Hooker family was more than pleased to have made the donation to the library and was even more grateful to the dedication of the Media Center.

Mrs. Iracela Acosta presented Mrs. Pam hooker with a gift bag filled with Belizean items as a token of appreciation. On behalf of the community of San Pedro, heartfelt thanks go out to the Hooker family for a significant donation.

This is a wonderful gift to the island from a family that has loved San Pedro and called this their home. I couldn't think of a more apt gift to be made in the name of Paul Hooker. No doubt he would be pleased and proud of the decisions his wife made in choosing to develop a media centre.
