Moving down mid January. I dont know how the residency thing works. I wont be denouncing my citizenship from USA as I plan on coming back eventually. Pretty much wanting to be a perpetual tourist.

My question is, as long as I have a physical address there (Im signing a lease on a condo) how hard (what steps) will I have to go through to register a 4 wheeler to drive.

I will probably buy it there or BC as I've heard bringing in vehicles can be a pain.

Thank you!

AC

Once you are living here you will have to apply for a permit and have it approved by the San Pedro Traffic commitee before you purchase or bring any type of vehicle to the Island, I understand that there is a moratorium in place to restrict the amount of vehicles being imported to San Pedro, I'm not saying it is impossible to recieve a permit but it will be tough. It may take some time.

I have to ask:
what does not denouncing citizenship have to do with moving to BZ and getting a vehicle?

Registering a vehicle shouldn't be a problem; just ask Mommy or Daddy to do it for you.

You don't have to denounce your US citizenship to live here. After five years you can even become a Belize citizen and still not denounce your US one.
Beware - getting a permit is a slow process. It took me a year to get mine and I had already lived here a year.
Bring a bycycle - with the roads the way they are it is a better ride.

Damn, a year?! That sucks. What if you buy a vehicle that is already registered? or is the permit more for the driver, not the vehicle?

the permit is non-transferable...but sometimes the seller will leave the papers in their name for you.
