Just saw this in the New York Times.....

The farm, the only one in Belize, has been given positive marks by the World Wildlife Fund.

Aficionados of the small, sweet shrimp in restaurant kitchens include Larry Forgione at the Monkey Bar, whose tropical shrimp salad, below, sparkles with mango, cucumber, jicama, pineapple, ginger, mint, cilantro and a splash of rum.

Laughing Bird shrimp are $12.99 a pound at freshdirect.com, $13.95 a pound at Lobster Place at Chelsea Market and in Greenwich Village.

Here in central NY, the grocery store "Wegman's" has been featuring Shrimp from Belize for several months now. They even have a video loop running about the farms and production going on in Belize. I usually stand by the video player for a while each shopping trip just to hear Belizean's speaking! Puts a smile on my face. This month in the Wegman's Menu magazine there is a big 4 page article and photos of the shrimp farms and Barry Bowen & son who own/run them. Different from the Laughing Bird shrimp farms referred to above but also claim to be anti biotic, chemical & GMO free, vegtarian fed, & raised with zero water exchange & no damage to mangroves. www.wegmans.com

Oh Barb, I love Wegmans!!!! That was where I shopped in Buffalo, and it was a great grocery. Thanks for the little memory.
Hope you are well.
