As Jane said, some of the hotels on the north side of the island offer meal packages, probably due to the distance to town and other restaurants, but not sure if that includes liquor/beer.We also have always done the "all-inclusive" during our vacations until our trip to AC. While everyone has to do what is best for them,we will never do an all-inclusive on AC, mainly because there are SO MANY great places to eat! Also because we found the food to be very reasonable, either in the restaurants (most of them),or if you buy at the grocery and cook in your hotel/condo.You can buy beer (Belikin, of course!)at the distributor for a very reasonable price(most hotels will have it delivered and in the fridge waiting for you when you get there). The street vendors offer inexpensive, delicious food (we would have never eaten from the vendors in Mexico!)and you don't have to worry about getting sick. Celi's Deli has great, low priced food..burritos,tamales, garnaches, etc.And there is nothing better than eating breakfast at Estel's by the Sea.However, if all-inclusive is the way you want to go, they are available, but, the hotels that offer them,I think,(locals and those "in the know" on the board, correct me here if I am wrong!)are on the north side of the island, on the other side of the "cut" in the river. Even if you do an all-inclusive, try to eat in town whenever you can. It is definately worth it!
