I have heard many opinions about this and I am sure that everyone will say that it will never happen...but here we go...."Will there ever be a 18 hole golf course on AC?"

I may appear new here, but I just do not post often. Have been a silent observer for quite some time. Heard both sides before. Just curious to hear some responses.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

PS..I am not naive...nor do I golf.

Just wanted to see what people would say. I expect mostly funny sarcastic comments.

Will anyone offer a true scenario where it could work?

It never went well at Caye Chapel. It is a great golf course too. I have played it twice.

Yes..but people needed to boat or fly there.

There is a significant population on AC which could simply golf cart over.

I thought it was the green fees that contributed to keeping many from taking a day trip over for a round of golf.

I think a big barrier to a GC on SP would be the fresh water issue to keep it green. It would probably have to be up north and a lot of land would be needed also. I think it could work with the right management/layout/green fee.
Caye Chapel is WELL worth the money to play. JMHO

I honestly don't think a golf course will ever come to AC in my lifetime. 1)land is too valuable. Even if land is 'created', it would be a poor investment to make it recreation use only. 2)The island is primarily a small community/diving/fishing destination. Golf doesn't fit the profile.

Although Caye Chapel is about $200 to play, it is for the whole day not a round (which is the price in the Cancun/Playa area) and from what I hear, Caye Chapel is a great course. Hubby has been able to get in 3 rounds on Caye Chapel which makes it a great deal.
