Since everyone seems to be pretty tolerant of the most mundane requests for info....here is one:

I plan on traveling very light(from what I hear, bathing suit, flip flops, tanks, and shorts are all that's necessary); is there a laundromat type facility on the island in case I need to recycle rum punch drenched items towards the end of the week?

My hotel is as modest as they come, so I'm assuming I won't have the luxury of washing my clothes there:-)

This is the least of my concerns but with the multitude of fruity drinks and BBQ's I thought I'd ask.

8 days to go!!

I couldn't tell you where it is, but I distinctly remember back during the hurricane time, that some people had lost their washing machines and were taking their clothes to some wash place....... I know there is one. Ask your hotel anyway. Some do their own sheets and stuff and may have a washer on the premises. Our place last year did a load of kids clothes for us, and also did our dirty beach towels. (We brought our own... I highly suggest it. Some places don't want you taking the bath towels out to the beach or on the boats etc. They get lost or ruined.)

Try Nellie's Laundromat located on Pescador Drive. Very reasonable and will deliver.

Have a great trip.

Scooter is right. We used Nellies for a long time before I finally bought my child bride our own machine.

Nellie's is one block from Ruby's. Very close and they do a good job!

Thanks all, Nellie's it is!! Although I will do my best to escape my usual "clean everything" mentality while on vacation.

Wendy, that's wonderful to know that the laundromat is so close to Ruby's, being that I will be staying at this wonderful hotel;-)

Here's something you can do to benefit the locals . . . take a walk down to Boca del Rio. Look for the ladies that have all the wash hanging out. Pay THEM to do it for you. (they do a better job then Nellie's)

M-A,

That is an interesting idea. How is such a gesture received by the locals? I would not want to offend anyone.

What type of etiquette does one use when saying, " Would you wash my clothes for a few bucks?"

I am sure if you asked at Ruby's they will hook you up for laundry needs. When I asked at my hotel they knew someone who wanted the work.
