I know this question has been discussed here before so please refrain from the "do a search" responses.

Situation: local friend / worker in need of a golf cart and I would like to help him purchase a used one.

Question: how difficult will it be for a locally born Belizean to obtain a permit transfer on a used cart already on the island with a current valid permit?

If the cart is already here and he has a valid permit then there is no problem.

But he is the one that must get a valid permit. The old permit will expire when the vehicle transfers ownership.

Some of the criteria to own a vehicle include proof that you have "off street" parking for your vehicle at night. This tends to be a difficult obstacle for many folks that live in homes where every square inch of available land it built upon.

He lives behind the airport and has just completed a new house on stilts so he will have "off street" parking.

Do you know the anual costs of the permit?

What if the owner has allowed the permit to expire?

Thank you Amanda!

PS: I need to get you some $ for SACNW. Please send me a private note as to the easiest way to get some funds to you.

Hmm, good question. Regarding Golf Cart: There is an application fee of $50 when you submit your application. When you are approved there is a one time payment of $00. Then there is a local "sticker" that you pay each year - $150.00. You must also purchase 3rd party risk insurance - $100 per year.

Those are Belize Dollars.

Thanks for your contributions to SACNW - last night we were talking about the medical supplies that your provided and how handy they are. We are always appreciative! Will send you a PM.
