Greetings:

We are making our 1st trip to Belize in June 2010 and will be staying in San Pedro for 2 nights. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers - son 17 and daughter 15. Trying to find a place to bunk down for the two nights that isn't too expensive (<$100 ?)with a seperate bed for each of the kids. So far I have mainly seen places with 2 beds in a room (have to get 2 rooms) or the big fancy, expensive houses. We are fine with a regular room with a cot / roll-out bed. Can you help me with some suggestions? Oh yea, not looking to cook (will eat out) and want something that isn't too far out of the way so we can enjoy the town portion.

Thanks for your help.

Mayan Princess, has room 13 (if I recall correctly), has a queen bed in the sleeping area, a hide-a-bed in the living room and also a single bed in the living room, could be perfect for you. Also Room 15, is a normal suite with a bedroom area separated by the kitchenette from the livingroom area. The living room area has a hide-a-bed. But Room 15 also has a separate small bedroom with bunkbeds and a dresser. Just tell them what you need and they will accommodate you.

Hotel del Rio has a large cabana that will sleep 5 comfortably. Has 2 beds but must have another spot for the 5th person, so I'm assuming that there's another bed or sofa bed in there also.

Just a bit out of your price range, but very nice large comfortable rooms, are Suite #11 & 12 at the Blue Tang.

Best of luck, hope you enjoy your stay. By the way, even though these places all have kitchenettes, there's no requirement that you cook. smile

Also check Banana Beach - they may have a set up for your family.

I always suggest Ak'Bol, they have a great resort at the best prices, but it may be too far out of town for your liking (it's 1 mile north of the bridge).

Hope you have a great stay on the island!

Hey guys,

Also finalizing our plans to come down for 1 week. Of the options listed here, which ones have (or are within a "KwikWalk" from wink ) a water access beach. We noticed some have retaining walls, and wanted to stay near a beach with easy water access.

Thanks!!

top,

if there's any way you can swing it, extend your stay for more than 2 nights!! I just went for 9 days and it still wasn't enough!

The Tides, Banana Beach and Akbol are beachfront - were you interested in town (a little busier/ noisy at times) or North / South of town (may need transportation if too far).

For the original poster and Kwikwalk, Tides is close to town and a walk-in beach but wouldn't say that their beachfront is exactly a walk-in type. Nice pool right in front though. Tides have a suite that would suit size-wise but is over the budget.

For OP,Akbol is too far from town.

Banana Beach has huge retaining wall, though can easily walk down from its beach to one of best walk-in beaches in San Pedro area. Kids generally like Banana Beach, especially because of the pools.

Kwikwalk's request is probably met by all, including Belizean Reef.

Mayan Princess is right in town, on the beach, and reasonably priced. We enjoyed a recent stay there.
