Atlantic Bank donates to the Lions Club

The San Pedro Town Branch of the Atlantic Bank Limited handed over a donation to the San Pedro Lions Club on Tuesday. The donation was made possible as part of the Bank’s decision to assist charitable organizations during the Christmas Holidays. Atlantic Bank San Pedro Branch Manager Rudy Gonzalez told The Sun that this year the Bank decided to donate to charitable institutions countrywide. As such, each Branch received monies to help the community and the branch made the decision as to which institutions to assist. Gonzalez explained that two institutions were chosen, one by the management and the other by the staff members. The Management chose to assist the San Pedro Lions Club, which has been a service organization for many years. The staff on the other hand, will conduct minor uplifting to the infrastructure of the San Pedro Pre School. In addition the bank’s staff will also give gifts to the students of the same preschool. In receiving the donation, President of the San Pedro Lions Club Melanie Paz expressed her gratitude to the San Pedro Branch of the Atlantic Bank. Paz stated that the monies came in handy and will be used to help cover the expenses of the Senior Citizen’s Annual Christmas Dinner which is hosted annually by the Club. The donation was in the amount of Belize $1,000.

SPTC joins Santa around town

The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) decked out in full red, visited island schools to share the Christmas spirit. With Santa Claus in tow, the cheery SPTC elves, carried Santa’s big bags and headed to visit all the students on the island and share with them a present. On Monday, the school visited was the Island Academy, while on Tuesday, the San Pedro Roman Catholic School students were the ones to smile widely as they graciously received their gifts. Leaving beaming faces behind, Santa had done his deed along with Mayor Elsa Paz.

SPTC gets in the holiday giving mood annually and shares the joy with the children of the island. All schools were visited throughout the week and all island students rejoiced that Santa paid them a nice visit.
