I've used Skyauction quite successfully in the past - primarily for air. I did play arond one time with a package once and won - much to the dismay of a notorious SP hotelier, who gave me much grief about "Wal-Mart travel shopping".

Looking at the current high bid for air only, makes me wonder if the bidder read all the fine print. The key to scoring big on these auctions is to:
1. wait until the last second to bid; high-speed access helps!
2. know your limit and hold to it because:
3. there is almost always another auction coming right behind the current one (or simultaneously, if SA hits their margins)

KLC, Sky Auction has changed at little. Now:
"The auction closing time will be extended by 5 minutes whever a new bid is sumitted within the last 5 minutes of the end of auction, up to a maximum of 1 hour".

So be prepared to have you finger on the enter key, cause the other guy has 5 minutes to respond. Still could be fun!

Where's the deal? On the RT ticket, the minimum bid plus the tax/security/fuel surcharges total more than what I can buy a ticket for. Add in the MPS surcharge and it's way over.
