Pelecanus occidentalis
The Brown Pelican was listed as endangered since 1970 when its numbers dipped to 10,000. The US government remedied the situation by imposing a ban on the use of DDT in 1972. Since then, the population of Brown Pelican had been climbing and was recently removed from the list in November 2009. Current estimates place the population at 650,000 individuals.
The one in the photo is a young mature female.

They are doing well here , I took this pic of a chick in its nest on the little bird Island in the back last week.

I am confused Elbert, so white Pelican and Brown Pelican, is that like with White and Black people? Who does what and how does the social order work? I am obviously not a Birdman, just curious how it works with birds.

Yes ,you could call it a different race. Thats fair, race in taxonomy is referred to a subspecies.
The white Pelican seems to prefer fresh water and you see them around the Crooked Tree Reserve.

Elbert, I always enjoy viewing your photos. These are no exception. They are wonderful. I love the nested young and the one landing on the beach wall with one swimming below.
