I read somewhere, I think in one of my Cayes travel books, that "Raul's Rooms", located on the corner of the back street (also called Avenda Mangle and Traveler Palm) might be able to accomodate travelers for under $40./U.S., and they apparently have refrigerators, priv. bathroom, and ceiling fans in their rooms (?). I wonder if anyone else has heard of Raul's rooms?. Anyway, if Raul reads this I hope he responds as I'm very interested in learning more.

Dane is correct, Raul doesn't post on this site, but you can call Raul for more info as well - he and his wife, Loydie, speak English and Spanish, they are both BOI (born on the island!) From outside Belize the number is 0115012260133. The upstairs room is cooler, but in March it probably won't matter. My husband says the rooms are $22.50 US ($45 Belize) but that may not be current.

He also has a two bedroom new furnished apt. Its spacious and has a kitchen..it rents for $600 US a month, probably higher by the week and higher by the day....
