Where can we find information on damage on the island? Is there a specific site to check? Is the Lions Club involved in the relief effort?? The news in the US is terrible concerning the island!!

Its an occasional random phone call that gets thru. 99.5% aren't. Believe me, we are punching numbers up over and over and over and over hoping one will get thru....

Here is a report from my friend in Belize City.

Following is the latest advisory on Hurricane Keith: Monday 6:00 A.M.
The center of the hurricane is about 30 miles east-north-east of Belize
City, or a position east of San Pedro and Caye Caulker. It is somewhat
stationary or very little movement. HOWEVER KEITH CONTINUES TO WEAKEN TO A
CATEGORY 1 HURRICANE. It is unsure where the hurricane will make land-fall.
It is pounding the coast of Belize and most of the country with torrential
rain.

San Pedro: Bombarded, telecommunication tower went down, lots of property
damage, power is not functional, 4 feet of water on the side of the
island opposite to the barrier reef, NO REPORT OF ANY CASUALTY.
Belize City: Most of the streets are under 12 to 18 inches of water. Reports
keep coming in of damages to properties.

In Christ,
Melvin Davis.

Sari Vidrine's parents gave me the following info yesterday . . . .
---------------------------------------------
--Sari has been calling on her cell phone as late as 2PM Houston time. Four pilots froim Tropic Air have been helping her. They are in the marina apartment, but the building may not stand, the water is up to the
second floor. They may have to go into the water. I told Sari several hours ago to put on life vests which all have done.--
---------------------------------------------
When I called her parents back for an update, they said that Sari told them that Tropic Air's building was demolished, and that several Tropic employee's had taken refuge with her at The Boatyard and Marina. They relayed the info that storm surge was getting to 8 to 10 feet on the Boatyard property. (For those unfamiliar with The Boatyard, it is located about 3 blocks West from Maya Air).
------------------------------------------
Then I got this note about 9:30 this morning . . .
---------------------------------------------
Hello,
My name is Jane Keelan, Mike Keelan's mom. He works for Tropic Air and is with Sari in San Pedro. He called us here in Calgary about 6a.m. and said they were all okay, have spent a terrifying 24 hours and just want to come home. I don't know when they will be able to leave the island as there is so much destruction.
---------------------------------------------
That explains why we've been getting no news from Tropic's radio dispatch system.
