A friend of mine is planning on visiting their uncle in Belize and want to bring him a gift. They was wondering what would be a good gift. Any thoughts? I saw from another discussion group that wine would be good. Anything else?

Just to add to your wine idea . . .when I am visiting someone who is not from "my part of the country," I always bring wine- and I get a wine that is made locally to where I live. (Or as local as you can get it). Just nice to be bringing part of where you are from, to them. The other gift I find to be nice is a "coffee table book." I am from central New York State and there are a couple of really nice books out there that are, basically, photographs of the area I live. One in particular is called "The Finger Lakes." It 's a really nice, hard-cover book with photos of the area we live, in all different seasons . . .you know. . .snow covered barns, rolling hills, beautiful old wooden boats in a marina, village greens. . .stuff like that. Makes the gift kind of personal when it's of the area you live.
But if this is an uncle who loves fishing, for example, bring something for fishing that you know he can't get in Belize. . .or whatever. Maybe my ideas are too sappy. . .
Good luck. . .if all else fails, bring booze!
