Heading down for a little diving in a week and a half. Anyone have some current water temps they could share?

Thanx.

On the dives I have done recently the temps ranged between 80f and 84f. The most recent was 84f and it felt pretty warm.

Glad to hear its warming up. When we were there 1st week of Feb water was mid 70s. Surprised because it has never been below 80 in the 6 years we have been going down there. Bought a cheap hood at the local dive shop and that helped. Nearly every diver was wearing a hood and I never saw that before in that location. Almost reminded me of West coast diving.

Mean average water temperature here varies from 76 degrees in February, to 84 degrees in September. In between those months, water temp is between those temps.

Corals find it hard to survive unless temp is between 75 and 85 degrees. In 1998, average temp in september was 86 to 87 degrees, and we had loads of coral 'bleaching', which coral does when under stress. Bleaching is where the coral turns white.

These very warm sea temps resulted in Hurricane Mitch, which was a monster!!!!

Please note the above are average temps, you will find warmer and cooler spots.

Thanks Peter. That's what I needed. I was there the same time Dawghed was and I agree, it was a little chilly. I ended up with my core warmer under my 1.5 and still got a little chilly. 84 sounds just ducky to me.
