I bet this is a new question for the board.

If a local resident adds a 40cc motorized kit to their bicycle will the bike at that point need a permit like a motorcycle? The motor kit is designed to allow the bicycle to be pedaled or powered by the motor.

In most states here in the US if the motor is under 50cc then a license or registration is not a requirement.

Its a great question and would make for cheap motorized transportation.

They are loud tho.

I have seen a couple of those bikes here, but do not recall seeing any registration stickers on it.

Its a new question for transportation dept too, as this very issue has just been brought before them and they are looking at how other Commonwealth countries handle the same. No decisions made yet, but you can call them and speed up the process.

There are probably two questions to be addressed:
First is the "license" issue - what kind of vehicle needs to be licensed in Belize.
Then there is the "do you get to bring it to San Pedro" issue.
Methinks there will be harsher judgments made out here on the island.

Bringing it to the island should not be an issue. The motor is little more than a weed eater size motor that one attaches to your regular bicycle. The kit I'm looking into allows the bike to be pedaled or powered with the motor.

I'm trying to help a local friend get back and forth to job sites more easily. "Cheap" yet useful carts don't seem to exist on AC and I bought him a motorcycle a year ago which he wrecked. I told him prior to the wreck that he didn't appear very stable on the motorcycle but he just wouldn't hear it. He wrecked not long after injuring himself and tearing up the motorcycle. He wants another motorcycle but I'm reluctant to help him get another one to wreck and hurt himself on.

Anyone know of an ugly but still useful cart for sale on AC? Or a "cheap" four wheeler?
