Intelligent people are usually puppeteers, not puppets. Her predecessor's contract had ended, she had been appointed by the other party and she had been director of tourism for a very very long time. Change is usually good imo.

Your first sentence is in practice untrue. But more of concern here is the people who appointed her (the new one) and who will remain "above" her. In what sense is she a "director" other than in the name?

I agree entirely. She just needs to keep her head down, obey orders, and rake in the cash. Great for her, not so sure about the rest of us.....
