Just thought I would let other travelers know that if you have reservations at Jaguar Paw Resort, this resort is no longer open. Jaguar Paw transferred our reservations and our deposit over to Duplooy's Jungle Resort which worked out fine.

It was just a little unsettling to find this out a few days prior to our departure to Belize last week. Duplooys is further from the airport than Jaguar Paw, but is a very beautiful setting and we enjoyed it. I believe that tours are still being run out of Jaguar Paw but it's no longer a resort.

I don't know why Jaguar Paw is taking so long to work this out with its guests.

I first reported that Jaguar Paw was no longer accepting hotel guests on March 10 on the Belize Forums, almost a month ago. Also posted it on a couple of the Belize mailing lists. (I should have reported it here but didn't think about it.)

They need to advise guests with reservations that they are no longer a hotel and work out the arrangements. And they should also notify the BTB.

We were there for zip lining 2 months ago and stopped in for a rum punch. The lobby and restaurant had a very strong smell of ammonia or urine. All of the sudden a group of 30-50 of some type of animal, maybe a coatamundi, were herded inside the lobby and up the stairs. It was bizarre.

That's really weird. I didn't even think the lobby had stairs....

Aren't there a couple of stairs from the lobby into the main restaurant area?
