Kudos to the owners and staff of San Pedro Water Jet Express!
Briefly - a class act - safe, clean, comfortable, affordable and quick. I took the trip two days ago and am truly impressed.
Some details for those who have not tried it yet:

Terminal in SP - by Sunset Grille

Cost - $110 Belize round trip plus $1 US for pier fee in Mexico.

Departure from San Pedro - 8:00 am (get there about half an hour early to do customs etc.)

Travel time - 90 minutes

Departure from Chetumal - 2:30 Belize time / 3:30 Mexico time (they are one hour ahead of us).

The experience ...... no overcrowding - each passenger has a seat that is like a bus seat with a comfortable back and a pillow. Two rows of seats on each side of the boat. Safety cards and seasick bags are in the pouch of the seat-back in front of you (like on a plane), and life jackets are easily seen and accessed under each seat.
Boat hostess tends to your needs - on-board complimentary bottled water and juice. Two tv screens show a movie whilst in route.

In Chetumal, you can present your ticket from Jet Express at Noor Hotel and receive a 10% discount on lodgings. Los Cocos Hotel offers a discount of 25% for Jet Express passengers.

This was a most pleasant experience !!

Thanks Diane for the review. I hope more people use this service since it is so convenient for shopping in Chetumal.

I spent $367 Bz on office supplies, some dynamite new bed pillows and also lugged a couple of ceramic lamps.
All declared - no duty charged on this end.

We went mid-week and it was very relaxed.

Weekends are probably different ......

HAH a quick read of that first sentence can give one an entirely different outlook on Diane's shopping spree. smirk

Got me there - a good pillow fight is definitely part of the dialogue on weapons of mass destruction.

There is a Sam's Club like within walking distance of where the boat docks, 3 blocks away. Downtown shopping is also within walking distance, lots of stores of all types. Also a Walmart type store, different name though, need to taxi there.

And there's a huge, modern, air-conditioned shopping mall with a Liverpool department store.
