This has been terrific, reading everything that has been happening on AC. Just making my wait to arrive seem longer. We will be arriving 4/24 for 7 days.
Besides, bug repellent are there any suggestions as what else we should bring. we normally go to cozumel.
And most important is it really worth the the time to travel to the Blue hole or should we take that time to explore somewhere else. I,m looking for suggestions on dive quides also, we are staying at Ramons village. Can't wait to meet Barefoot.

You will love Ramon's. Service and amenaties (SP?) are wonderful. I have not ever dove the Blue Hole, I have dove Turniff several times and it is wonderful. All the Dive Masters at Ramons are excellent. They can arrange anything you want. Have a great time!

I hear the lighthouse is a better dive than the blue hole.... You can try both!!!! Also, we used to go to the Mayan Sun Coast in Mexico and been to Cozumel too. Once you go to Belize, you'll never go to Cozumel again. Belize it!!!

my husband did not want to bother with the blue hole. 7 minutes bottom time is all you get.

he dove turneffee atoll instead, and loved it. swam with dolphins and all. have a great trip.

I think you should dive the Blue Hole--Have done it with Amigos and you will see may black tip and blue sharks. The reefs at Lighthouse that you dive following the Blue Hole are fabulous. I would do both the Blue Hole trip and Turneffe.

We will be in AC 4-22 for a week also and we plan on doing the Blue Hole dive. We also go to Coz all the time and this is also our first trip to AC. This board is great and so are all the folks that answer everyones questions. I can't wait to meet Barefoot. Maybe we will meet up.

You have to do the Blue Hole at least once in your lifetime. Also, having made numerous trips to Cozumel for the diving, would venture to say that the Turneffe sites are as good as, or damn close, to the reef in Cozumel. Also, AC is much nicer above the water. Cozumel go too big, stoplights, a second gas station, where is it going to end? AC is the best. And Belikin is far superior to Corona. IMHOP

Ii agree, if you are in Belize, why not do the Blue Hole, it is worth doing at least once. Plus, you don't just dive the Hole but do two other spectacular dives and visit Half Moon Caye.

If you are an advanced diver then you really should do the Blue Hole. It is quite a different type of dive from all of the others that you will do. The two follow up dives are fantastic, with a lovely lunch on the beach of an idyllic island and red-footed bobbie birds. Belikins and panty-rippers on the way back to AC and it makes one helluva way to spend the day! You will also probably see Caribbean reef and bull sharks at the Hole.

Andy at Gaz Coopers is a wonderful dive master. Many years under his belt doing the dives and he never tires of them. Tell him Debbie sent you if you use him. Also, Aldolfo at Amigos Del Mar is great. I never went to Blue Hole but heard it was a great day trip. I was just there last week and the water was a little choppy which decides how many dives you can do. On many days, they were only able to get one dive in when 3 are planned. Noone to blame but Mother Nature for that, but what can one do? Come back to the island and enjoy the rest of your day is the best answer. Hope you have a great trip, I can't believe my vacation is already over.

Wow, you all...you decide to speak up at the last minute!!! Will be doing Blue Hole myself...for the cavern...read how it was formed...To me that makes it worth it...
Yes, only 8 min's, but 8 minutes at that depth is a rush...did a free accent from 180 from a Sub once..this will be my deepest dive from the surface. Very pumped about following dives. So you all there!!!

my husband and neighbor did the blue hole trip and raved about it. saw bull sharks and black tip sharks. 8 min. at 135', temp 65 but had 22 min toward the top, temp 75. water conditions-calm on all 3 dives even through the boat had to go through 8'swells to get there. said the trip was worth every penny. Patrick from a video shop went on the trip and taped the entire day-now we have a great souvenier of the dives. The video store appears to have a relationship with Amigos dive as Patrick also taped the other dives my husband was on, the video store is located across the street fom fido's courtyard.

Panty-rippers are pineapple juice and coconut rum. Mmm mmm good! Messy though if the boat is jostling around on the waves. hee, hee
