Torn, that's what we are...
Between AC and back to Isla Mujeres/Playa del Carmen for the 20+time.

We will be arriving September 6th for a 13 night stay...

The recent crime reports are worrying me as we are townies, love to walk around, love to people watch, love to frequent "local" places for food and fun. Never have been hassled in either of our favorite places...but we are not the newbie travelers and know how to stay out of trouble.

The fact that many local places to eat drink and party may be closed, either because they are on vacation, or just closed during the "low season" has us worried that maybe we just postpone this trip to a better time of the year, and go back to where we are comfortable.

To all my new friends in AC thanks for your advice and I look forward to hearing more.

We have been ready to go for 2 years, but medical issues have canceled two previous trips - nothing medical will stop us now, just the above mentioned issues.

Thanks again -

How do you feel about bus travel? With 13 days, it would be easy enough to split your trip, especially if you head to Playa del Carmen and Ambergris.

Do NOT worry about crime on AC. Ain't gonna happen to you.
If you are a gang-banger and are looking for trouble, Belize city has plenty for you - but you will have to look for the bad neighborhoods to find it.

We have been thinking of the bus trip, originally going to use air miles to fly free to cancun, then the bus and water taxi out of chetumal...but the direct airfare just went down to 399 r/t from the cleveland area.

I am convinced - it is AC and I know we will be in heaven!
thanks for your input.

Great flight deal beached. Since you like Isla you will love Ambergris Caye. (I say this having been to both places.)

While it is true less places are open in slow season you will not starve. Usually closer to the time a list gets posted.
