My daughter just sent me an article from a self defense instructor. Arm yourself with a can of Wasp Spray. It will normally spray 20-30 ft. much further than pepper spray (have to be up close for pepper spray) it is easily obtained and looks unobtrusive. Carry it in your purse, by your door or bedside. The intruder is incapcitated for long enough he would have to go to a doctor or at least long enough for you to get away. Does anyone know if it is available in San Pedro? Since we have never had a wasp problem, have never really looked for it.

Isn't the wind a danger factor?

Probably, I'll make sure they only break in on a calm day! Ha

It shoots in a pretty tight stream - wind could be a factor but if using it for self defense it is better than nothing in such circumstances. I hear bear repellant spray is very effective in debilitating an attacker.

not sure this in tongue and cheek or not (hope so)... but the wasp spray email is an internet "forward this to everyone" hoax from a "self defense instructor". The chemical in this stuff are neurotoxic... may well work... and may get you into a bit of trouble when the person stops breathing. just passing it on...

If it is used for self defense against an attacker (not just for good sporting fun blush), I'd say the attacker has the onus to assume the inherent risks associated with attacking another person.

Just for some "good sporting fun" think I'll try it on Thurston first!

now that's the spirit lovey... test it at home first. Iluv... the same argument could I suppose be made by those who choose to use handguns and other fun objects... wasp spray does sound trendier and safer...
