Hi AC you should be able to link to the feeds via wunderground.com. Search for personal weatherstation: lAMBERGR2

Oh god do it bro.

I am an iPad junkie. Been working with developers around this lovely globe to get what we need in their apps. Been doing that kind of consultation work for many years and i love it. Especially between app data sharing

Why build an app? It would be easier and more flexible to do a mobile web UI on the data, and you don't have the pain of app store approval.

(Also that would then work on RIM, Symbian etc which seem more prevalent on the island right now than iOS, let alone Android)

But it would be great fun, and if you need any help... ;-)

I am traveling, first trip where i just brought the iPad. For FTP, editing files, email, website updating etc etc. Amazing. A level of convenience that i am not used to with laptops. Using voice to answer email unless I am in a crowd!

App store approval not that big of a deal. Have several friends who have done it. Android store is a mess. Lots of buggy lousy software. Hard to find the gems.

We'll find out soon if the ipad can hook up to wireless here in Belize but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Here is Amanda's station data rendered for iOS (iPhone & iPad):

http://i.wund.com/auto/iphone/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IAMBERGR2

Looks great on both, and also more than tolerable on Android.

Add it to the home screen and you'd never know it wasn't a native app...

For less capable mobile browsers one might try http://m.wund.com/ but it doesn't seem to include 'Personal Weather Station' data.

(iPad works great here, but then again mine's only the humble WiFi version ;-) )

Did he need a chip or anything or it just picked up from a satellite> Or does he need wireless. Sounds too good to be true

You can get WiFi-only or (just recently) WiFi+3G models.

WiFi will work in any hotspot (despite a few Apple teething problems when they launched).

Cellular/3G data requires a SIM card for a network that you're in, or roaming from. Apple's assumption (in the US) is that you'll get an iPad with an AT&T data-centric plan... so if that then allows you to roam onto a Belize network, then no problem.

(I assume in reality it falls back to a slower GPRS network here at best).

No support for satellite. Although that would be cool out in the wilds!

note, things that wont work on the ipad here (due to country restrictions) such as netflix, pandora, hulu, etc are easily fixed with a vpn. setup right in the main settings on ipad
