My son and I are coming to CC for a year (or forever) in January 2011. I am looking for a long term rental - is it too much to hope for something around 500 US per month for a year's lease? Any leads would be appreciated-

You should be able to find something for that, but it won't be in a prime beachfront property.

Caye Caulker is even cheaper than Ambergris Caye and I know of a number of 500.us per month rentals here on Ambergris.
I have one but it stays rented year round.
