The fact the Casino shut down doesn't surprise me. It was open the first couple of times I was down and I never had any desire to go. There are way too many other things to do, people to see and Belikins to drink. The last thing I wanted to do was sit and put quarters into a slot machine.

Thanks all for your answers.
Phil- the weather answer puts my mind at ease a bit. As long as it's nice during the day, it can rain all night long while I sit in the bar. I was just worried about it being rainy season and having to sit indoors all vacation. Most def NOT what I'm looking for.
I'll deal with the skeeters.
Should I buy repellant before I get there? Or are there plenty of places to buy it there?
Thurkil- Sounds like a plan, man. Texans know how to party in my experience.
I had thought about getting dive qualified, but I think I'll save that for another trip. So just snorkeling this time around.
Anyone know if Spindrift is a good place to stay? I'm not really on a budget this trip, but I can't see spending a lot of cash on a resort. I'd rather be in town closer to everything. Especially since I'm not planning on being in my room much. Does anyone know if they have safe's in their rooms or not?
I think I'll be taking the water taxi from BC. Not really to save $, just that when I get there I'll have been on planes for 22 hours, and don't think I'll want to get on another.
Where can I pick up a camera to take pictures underwater at?
TIA,

Question:
Any laws on open intoxicants? Can I just cruise the place with beer in hand, or do I have to be in an establishment to drink?
I know, I know... I sound like an alcoholic with all the booze questions. I'm not, I just like to have a good time, and I can't drink over here, so I make up for it on R&R ;D

Spendthrift is a great location, but might be a bit noisy a lot of the time,,, Others may enlighten you about the rooms. Everything (including bug repellent) is more expensive on the island as everything has to be imported. I like the little towelettes as they are handy to carry around. The drinking laws are fairly relaxed, so you will be fine carrying your drink to the next bar or around the town square.

My advice is to stay aware of your surroundings and do not trust everyone you meet (sounds crazy, but I see it happen all the time). Like everywhere else, times are hard here and there are opportunists lurking.

Come to Karaoke on Tuesday at Fido's, Wednesday at RoadKill or Friday at Playa Lounge - we would love to buy you a beer smile

Above all else, enjoy your well earned vacation!

My cousins and I will be in San Pedro from Sept. 18 (checking in on Saturday morning) and leaving Tursday, Sept. 21. What nightlife would you suggest, and are there any all-inclusive deals in San Pedro (we will be coming from Cancun) Look forward to hearing from you!
