So, in looking online, I have noticed that alot of people do not have very good reviews about Belize City. Can anyone tell me more about where to stay, where not to stay, and where the night clubs are?
When I am in Belize City, I like to stay at The Great House. I don't tend to go out at night much in cities, so I would have no idea about the nightclubs. You might want to post something on the Belize Forums. There are more people from the City and its surrounds who post there. http://www.belizeforum.com/belize/ubbthreads.php?ubb=cfrm
Belize City is not a safe place these days - absolutely not a tourist destination! Think any urban city... the high crime areas. It is too bad because you can see that it was once a nice city.
Most residents do not venture out at night. When we have to, we also stay at the Great House (the prices are usually better than the Radisson (next door) and the restaurant is very good as well. You could get a taxi to the casino if you are craving more activity. I do not advise walking around the city especially at night.
i always stay at the Ft. George, in the tower. nice little corner of the city on the lighthouse point with a great marina. lots on good food around and secure as it gets in the city. try the Smoking Mermaid across the street.
Well, that settles it for me!! I will be going to Ambergris Caye to stay there for 3 days or so! Any suggestions on where to stay (at a fairly reasonable price!)
Whats fairly reasonable. 100.us a night? Quite a few of those. I get lots of emails for people saying. I want to Dive and don't need a fancy hotel to stay at. Just want to spend their money on diving and not a room they don't plan on staying in much....That seems to cost about 100.usd a night.
Well, that would be fine, but given that we are not really going to be in the rooms that much, not wanting to spend over $100 per night. Would it be easier to rent a villa (there will be 3 of us total, so in the hotel, I would need 2 rooms). Are there any websites where I could rent a condo/villa for 3 nights?
