Ok these Chicago Loop hips are ready to punta, two more days of working with the sharks. Where's the best place to learn this dance? I want to master it down in AC and come back to Chicago and show these windy city people what it's all about. Tell me your favorite spot in AC and then look for the wild woman with green eyes and very little rhythm on Saturday night trying to master this dance. I will be a little out of it (early AM flight and by then one too many belikens) but I've learned to laugh at myself so darnit, I'm going to punta just tell me where to go.

Well Becky, I found that just about any hot blooded Belizian guy will be more than happy to teach you. The first time, I went to Shark Bar and asked two locals there to help teach me. They had such patience with me, as it is all about the hips and no shoulders, and here in the states, we are more shoulders and not as much hips it seems. So, they got me started, then the next night is when I met Andy from Gaz Cooper dive shop, and he taught me some more. That was at, oh no I just drew a blank. Someone help me out, it has the word Daddy in it and it is right next to Fidos. Ugh, anyway, go there too. The key is to make sure they are playing Punta music because you can't do it to any other type. You will see what I mean once you hear it. The rhythm is contagious and your body will just start moving in ways you never knew it could, and next thing you know, some guy will be backed up right behind you, and then the magic begins. Oh dear, I am getting to worked up, gotta go put on my Punta Rebel CD and start dancing. Good luck!!!!

Brain storm, BIG DADDYS is the name of the bar, but go after Fidos closes at 12:00. You will see the whole crowd kind of migrates there. Okay, gotta go dance. PUNTA PUNTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in Evanston about a mile north of Chicago right on the lake. Can't wait to hear your stories when you return. I hope you master the punta dance as well. Look for my trip report along with pictures around the 14th or 15th. I hope they don't throw me off the dance floor.

Hey Sharon, I am so excited, I can hardly wait. I hope they name a new dance after me. I hear that Cool Breeze is playing at Fido's on Saturday, I'm hoping they will let me get up and try my dancing abilities at Fido's and then work my way over to Big Daddyo's. I'll make sure to get pictures of me puntaing. I've got to find somebody to help me shake these Chi Town hips (technically Evanstonian hips). I do know where Naperville is, nice town. To add to the punta dance locations..On Thursday's Hit Fido's First..Then The Jaguar Club...they play a mix but will play punta too...look out this place ROCKS!!! Be well rested!!! And prepare to dance,,you will get no rest there!
