Did they ever reopen Legacy or is it open under a new name?

It is still closed.

Looking for an update on Belize Legacy Resort. Are they opening for the 2011 season or are they still closed? Thanks!

Still not open. Unfortunate - it seems that the various players cannot come to agreement.
The good news is that the island has a lot of other remarkable places for guests to stay - come down - we're very much open for business and will be pleased to show you true island hospitality !!

We stayed at Belize Legacy in 2008 (our first visit to Belize) and had a wonderful experience there. We were booked there again for 2009, but could not come because of back surgery.

We stayed at Belizean Shores last year, and found it even better than Legacy was in most respects. Our accommodations were every bit as nice, and the staff was just plain outstanding.

Admittedly, there was a romantic association with the first place we spent time in Belize, but we have been so impressed with Belizean Shores that we just booked with them again last night for this coming April.

Each resort is unique, and though we have very fond memories of our experience at Legacy, even if it were to reopen, I think we'd still chose Belizean Shores in future.
