Hello all. I'm a regular at AC, but would now like to go and stay at Placencia for a few days at the end of November. We are debating these two hotels. Money is no object so most would think Turtle Inn would be the right choice. But tripadvisor reviews are not at all impressive regarding this hotel. Many service issues and words about the rooms being very dated. Also not having Aircon worries me.

We will be travelling with our 6 year old son. We like ocean activities and a nice beach. Although the looks and atmosphere of the hotel is usually very important to us, it is the overall experience that really matters.

Please help me in this tough choice.

Both great places to stay. RG has a/c and tv; TI neither. TI is less than 3 miles from the village; RG 6 miles. RG will have more families and has a kids menu. Lots to do in Placencia on the sea and lagoon, and is close to Monkey River to see howlers, crocs, manatees and waterbirds; Jaguar Preserve for hiking,, swimming under a waterfall and floating down a jungle river in an inner tube. Maya sites in the Mayan villages in Toledo, caves, horses and diverse cultures and a quaint village.

Thanks for the info. My question is the real quality of accomodation and the food at TI. How is it without Aircond?
