You guys really think that's worth a phone call to immigration?
I have a lot of experience with dumb questions :-) and can tell you they will hard line 'yes you need a work permit' for anything you can describe.

Better than telling them just go for it and then find out later that they got busted. They can call an immigration lawyer instead then and ask the question. If you have a number go ahead and post.

Even my immigration status was questioned by one of the officers a few weeks ago and I've been here over 11 years. I had to produce my S/S card to prove my status.

Our intention was not to come across an arrogant Americans, that feel the laws do not pertain to us. I guess if anything we were naive. We did not feel that care taking for room and board would be taking an employment opportunity from a native belizean.

Is there a line of people waiting for a job with no pay? Just alittle humor...:) We are not trying to sound sarcastic, just trying to explain how we viewed the situation. We have no intention of trying to buck the system. We are just trying to escape the merry-go-round...go to work to make enough to have a place to live so you can get up and go to work again...
