Ya'axché Conservation Trust will be holding its annual Watershed Weekend on 28 August and, if you're in Toledo, Belize, you're welcome to come along. The Watershed Weekend runs from 10am until 2pm.
The Watershed Weekend has several events including:
Kayak racing (with cash prizes)
A volleyball tournament
The film premiere of River to Reef, a documentary on Toledo's water systems
A river creature show
The announcement of Ya'axché's 'design a tshirt' competition winner
Food and drink will be on sale and free buses are being provided to bring people from the surrounding villages to Ya'axche's field center near Golden Stream.
Buses will be starting from San Miguel and Trio at 9am and will stop in Silver Creek, India Creek, Golden Stream, Medina Bank and Bladen.
For those not on the free bus route, James' Bus service operates an hourly bus between Belmopan and Punta Gorda which passes by the field center.
The Ya'axché Conservation Trust (Ya’axche) is a community-oriented organization which advances integrated landscape management for equitable development in southern Belize through sustainable land use management, strategic advocacy and awareness, and by supporting socially innovative and economically viable enterprises.
Ya'axché is based in Punta Gorda, Belize and has been operating since 1998.
