From what I have found online, Jimenez Estrada was released on bail and is to appear back in court on October 19th. Please correct me if I am wrong or if any of you have further details on this case.

I am also curious about the current status of NARCISA ORELLANA, who was recently released without bail on her THIRD Human Trafficking charge of 2010. http://www.7newsbelize.com/sstory.php?nid=17351

This is not about prostitution. This is about females and males of ANY AGE being forced to work (most likely in the sex trade) against their will.

Your correct in that it should be about this only.
Yesterday I was pondering the underage factor and realized my grandmother married my Grandfather when she was 14 and I'm 16 years younger than my mother.
so I might have some prejudices in this matter.
Its about Human Trafficking, its wrong and illegal the rest are cultural differences.
Defined-Human trafficking is the illegal trade in human beings for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor: a modern-day form of slavery.
Jilco your words ? "While all areas containing high concentrations of human trafficking exploitation bars should be investigated, tourist areas should take precedence, with San Pedro, Ambergris Caye targeted as the number one offender in the country."
seems like a hand full was more the reality than your 'thousands a month' est.

Elbert -

I can't find my original post from back in July but no, Elbert, those were not my words. Those quotes you used are from The San Pedro Daily. http://www.sanpedrodaily.com/6-17-10.html

Thanks for the formal definition of Human Trafficking.

We're way off topic. But that's just what it doesn't say (at least, after the first sentence).

The cited article eloquently sets out why the numbers are exactly not what would be expected by genetic and biological differences alone. To quote:

"These numbers tell us, quietly, a terrible story of inequality and neglect leading to the excess mortality of women."

It's hard to reconcile the heady writing of Nobel Laureates with seedy goings on in San Pedro night clubs. But I felt I had to set the record straight on an important piece of writing.

Jilco ,one of the administrators moved you last thread on the subject to a subforum that is seen by business community members only. It a negative subject that affects tourism , The post IMHO where exaggerated way beyond the reality on the island and gave a false impression.

This thread should be under NEWS subforum anyway, to my mind.

Wow! I wonder if these authorities actually sat in front of a drawing board and planned this all out...Its funny how we cant get a group of Ministry of Works employees to rush down here and fix San Mateo or maybe some Belize Coast Guards to work at night without the consent of our town board...I agree with a lot..I'm against child exploitation but last night I rode to a nearby store to buy a bread and thought that this immigration sting would help me from getting my bike stolen..what I'm getting at is I think if any law authority has to fly out here/water-taxi comfortably on taxpayers money I think it should be for authorities that would help or educate use on how to save HolChan or tell use we are sending 5 atleast semi-navy trained police officers..
