Drivers up north (across the bridge), bike riders, and even pedestrians, are enjoying the nicely graded roads from the bridge through to the Cloisters thanks to the newly purchased grader from Reef Village.
Every time it rains, this area gets extra muddy and is filled with pot-holes, which of course makes it hard to navigate. With the new purchase, there is a bit of relief from the bad streets...kudos!

Wow what a difference. I am supprised that its taken this long for someone to get a grader there. Now would be the time to organize some road crew to clean up the road north and to cover the cost by the land owners based on property frontage.

Reef Village has had a road grader on site for a few years.
Whenever the road gets dry enough to use it they do.
In my opinion they have done a good job maintaining that stretch of road. Now if we could only get the Cloisters, Hamiltons, Waterford and so on to follow the Reef Village lead.

The road is so narrow from the Cloisters on that you would wonder if the grader would have enough room to operate.

absentee property owners is a large part. Tons of lots the road goes by that are owned by 'no one knows who', even property tax rolls cant show. Their more often than not on the tax roll as an owner that is two or three owners back in the history of the title.
problem # 2 is the materiel must be dug with an excavator to build up the road bed above the water level so more than just a dozer blade is necessary.
Big money for independents and then there is always the attitude of 'WTF happened to government doing it with all the tax money they collect.'

I had a friend stay with me last year for a while. He is in the business of building roads. He said that mostly what we need to make a decent road is already here. We need a machine that turns large rocks into small ones, a back hoe or similar to provide drainage on each side and some culverts in some of the lower areas. Once built in a structurally sound fashion he said it would just need periodic grading and the occasional replenishment of the rocks etc.

If the government would let us put a toll in place I think we could do a cooperative of the property owners and actually get this done.

Of course, frankly, I don't know if I actually would like to have this happen. What would it mean for more developments like that monstrosity currently being hawked as having road access, the level of crime that easy egress would bring and all the other undesirable effects like traffic.

Still, you can't stop progress and it would be better for the land owners to do it than let an outside developer come in and use the road as their personal domain.
