"It was parked at Cesar Rivero's workshop to be repaired, the engines were being serviced and he checked it 10:30 the night before and everything was fine and he came out in the morning about 7 o'clock and the boat was missing. It's a 38 foot Pelican boat, it has a hard top, it's white, the name is Bad Girl, it has two 200horsepower two strokes engine on it. It has been reported to the Police and the Port Authority. We went looking out in the mangrove as well yesterday, but nothing so far. The service was finished at the time and Cesar was going to give us a call to let us know but he was working on a few other things. If anybody sees it please just let us know, contact the Police, contact the Port Authority or myself or my husband and we would gladly go and see if we can recover it. You can call me at 600-4753. The boat is valued at $100,000.00 "

A friend of mine had his refrigerator and tv stolen as the tenant suddenly left the property. He says there is no follow up questioning of the tenant who is a local. Should he insist on trying to recover his stolen appliances ? If he doesn't, won't people feel free to rob his house?

On Caye Caulker sometimes we go to the thiefs house with about 20 people and simply walk in and pick up the goods.
This makes the crook the one who has to prove he bought that new fridge instead of your friend.
Last time at Rambos house we pretended Rambo wasn't even there as he threatened us - until he said he was calling the police. We sent two people to go get a cop for him and Rambo took off running. leaving us sitting around at his place. Couple girls followed him acting like tourists, even chatting with him as they rode.He went direct to the house where the stolen passport was hidden so we got everybody.
Most smart thieves are characters in films. Real thieves are mostly ignorant a##holes

Of course he should make a police report. Hopefully he took note of the serial numbers of the belongings. There is recourse and you can get your stuff back, but only if you catalogued it properly in the first place. Sometime the thief will just "fold" if the cops show up at the door. However only expect to get the goods back, it is doubtful that you will get any other type of compensation.
